Bleach London - Total Bleach Kit & The Big Pink review

19:56

In April 2016, I decided to change my hair from blue to pink. So far, no colour removers or other bleach had worked at getting it blonde enough for me to change it to any other colour so I was kind of giving up and just letting my hair grow out to the point where more than half of my hair was my natural black colour and the bottom half was bright blue.

I saw that Boots were stocking Bleach London products and I wanted to try the pink hair dye they have when I saw that they also do a bleach kit. So, I decided to buy the dye and the bleach kit and on my birthday, I bleached and dyed my hair.

The hair dyes are £5 for the individual 150ml bottles and the Total Bleach Kit is £7.

The bleach kit includes:

1 bottle of developing lotion (peroxide) 80ml
2 x 25g sachets of bleaching powder
1 conditioning repairing mask 50ml
1 tint brush for easy application
1 mixing bowl
1 pair of gloves
1 instruction leaflet.

The instructions for the bleach are super easy to follow regardless of how inexperienced you are with doing your own hair at home.

One thing I noticed once the bleach was all mixed and ready to use is that the smell of it isn't as overpowering as other bleach products I'd used in the past. Before trying this bleach kit, I had used some random bleach I bought from Sally's (it was quite some time ago now so I don't remember which one that was).

The bleach I bought from Sally's would usually leave my hair very yellowy and it didn't seem to fully bleach my hair properly no matter how long I left it in or how many time I bleached/toned my hair but this bleach kit would get my black hair to a white-ish blonde. It wasn't platinum blonde or anything but it got it as blonde as I needed it to be.

As for the dye, the bottle is kind of annoying because when you start getting to the bottom of it, it's a lot harder to get what's left of the product out. But as for the actual hair dye itself, a little bit of it mixed with a conditioner of your choice just dyes your hair a bright colour while also conditioning it (obviously).

The first time I did this, my hair turned out a pretty light where it had been blonde and where there was still some leftover blue on the ends, it went purple. But every time since, my hair has turned out very bright and the colour is even.

The dye doesn't have a strong or nasty scent and it has quite a thick texture and consistency while in the bottle. It's also super easy to use and apply and you get quite a lot of product in the bottle for only £5. It lasts ages (depending on how much you use in a sitting and how often you decide to redye your hair) and the colour doesn't fade from your hair very fast, despite it saying on the bottle that it fades out in 2-10 washes.

The only issue I had with the bleach kit was that there was slightly too little bleach to cover all my hair but not too little that it would've been worth using 2 boxes for 1 overall bleach. And the only issue I had with the dye was the previously mentioned problem with getting product out of the bottle. Other than that, I love these products,  they're well worth the money if you want to do your hair at home and it doesn't hurt that they're fairly inexpensive and easy to find and buy.

You can buy the Bleach London products from Boots (online or in store) or from the Bleach London site itself.

UPDATE 03/11/17: I think Bleach London must've changed some ingredients or how much they actually put in the bottle but when I used this bleach about a month or so ago, there was nowhere near enough to cover all of my hair and it didn't bleach it as light as it did before so I've had to switch to a different brand. It's a shame it seems to have changed and just gone so bad since it was a really good bleach but whatever I guess.

Anastasia Beverly Hills - Modern Renaissance Palette review

19:06

At the start of November, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette came back in stock on Cult Beauty and I managed to get my hands on it. I thought this palette looked beautiful and the colours, the pinks/reds in particular, were exactly the ones I needed. Added bonus was that pretty much everyone posting about it was just going on and on about how amazing this palette was.

I was obviously slightly wary about the fact that all those people posting were beauty bloggers/make-up artists with large followings and so they were potentially being paid to say nice things, etc. But I bought the palette anyway and honestly, I think it's amazing.

The shadows are so soft and buttery when swatched with my finger and they blend beautifully. These eye shadows are honestly so pretty and pigmented and there's so much you could do with them. The colours all compliment each other really well and they are such a high quality (which you should expect from a £41 palette). There is quite a bit of excess powder that comes up when you dip your brush into the shadows but so far, for me at least, it hasn't been enough to make a massive mess.

The packaging of the palette is also incredibly pretty but while the velvet is nice to look at and touch, it does collect a lot of lint and dirt quite easily which doesn't pair well with eyeshadows that have as much kickback as the eyeshadows in this palette.

The shades, as listed on Cult Beauty, are as follows:

Top Row:
Tempera - ultra-matte velveteen beige
Golden Ochre - matte earth-toned yellow
Vermeer - iridescent shell pink
Buon Fresco - matte antique lavender
Love Letter - ultra-matte raspberry
Cyprus Umber - matte dark coffee
Bottom Row:
Raw Sienna - matte, neutral amber
Burnt Orange - deep matte orange
Primavera - shimmering gold dust
Red Ochre - ultra-matte red stone
Venetian Red - matte crimson
Warm Taupe - earth-toned grey
Realgar - ultra-matte brick

Overall, the Modern Renaissance palette is a must have for pretty much any make-up lover, particularly those that want a palette that has stunning and pigmented pops of pinky reds and oranges paired with some neutral shades and it's now a permanent part of the ABH line so you don't have to worry about missing out.

You can get the Modern Renaissance palette on Cult Beauty, Beauty Bay or the new Anastasia Beverly Hills UK website.
